Exec women on top. At least!
Tags: fortune, exec, womenAs can be read in the last Fortune international issue (october 16, 2006 –online here), women are getting better positions inside big business. At least! Though they are far to be as represented as men, it seems exec women are catching more and more interesting positions. The article, called “On top of the world”, lists the 50 most powerful women in International business. France can be proud of the results of the 2006 survey : the first top three women this year’s Most Powerful Women are running French companies!
- # 1 is Patricia Russo, chairman and CEO of Alcatel Lucent (just $25B turnover…)
- #2 is Anne Lauvergeon, exec chairman of Areva (profits doubled last year, to $1.3B)
- #3 is, more surprisingly, Anne-Marie Idrac, President of SCNF ($26B in revenue last year)
More, these three exec aren’t the only French to be ranked in the first 50! Indeed, among French top exec managers, we also count Patricia Barbizet (CEO of Artemis Holding), Barbara Dalibard (Exec VP of France Telecom), Dominique Hériard Dubreuil (Chairman of Rémy Cointreau), Dominique Reiniche (President, European Union Group of Coca Cola, who’s an ESSEC Alumni we’re proud of :-), Françoise GRI (General Manager of IBM France) and Marie-Christine Caubet (Senior VP, Europe of Renault).
9 French women then, among the 50 international best! Amazing… Cocorico!, as French people would say. But probably should we consider that this nine exceptional women aren’t so representative from the career opportunities offered to women in France. Let’s keep in mind that there’s still a lot to do!
